Strength and Balance

Strength & Balance is a supportive, small-group reformer and mat class designed for older adults who want to improve their strength, balance, mobility and confidence with movement.

Led by experienced Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists, each class combines functional strength exercises with targeted balance and mobility training. Exercises can be adapted to suit your individual ability, making the class suitable whether you're new to exercise, returning after a break, or looking for a safe and supervised way to stay active as you get older.

Our Strength & Balance classes focus on maintaining the physical abilities that matter in everyday life, from getting up from a chair and climbing stairs to walking confidently, carrying groceries and staying active with family and friends.

Strength & Balance may help with:

  • Improving balance and stability

  • Building and maintaining muscle strength

  • Improving mobility and flexibility

  • Maintaining and improving bone health

  • Improving confidence with walking and everyday movement

  • Supporting healthy ageing

  • Improving coordination and functional fitness

  • Reducing falls risk through appropriate strength and balance training

  • Returning to exercise after illness, injury or a period of inactivity

  • Maintaining independence and confidence with daily activities

Unlike a general fitness class, Strength & Balance is led by qualified allied health professionals who understand injury, rehabilitation, health conditions and age-related changes. Exercises can be progressed or modified to help you exercise at an appropriate level while still providing enough challenge to build strength and improve function.

You don't need to be fit or experienced to get started. Our goal is to provide a welcoming environment where you can exercise confidently, progress at your own pace and enjoy the benefits of staying strong and active.

Located at Peak Flo Physio in Coolangatta, our Strength & Balance classes are convenient for older adults and seniors from Coolangatta, Tweed Heads, Banora Point, Kirra, Bilinga, Tugun, Currumbin and across the Southern Gold Coast and Northern NSW
